Absie Pantshwa — Mzansi head of taste.

While some go above and beyond for social clout, we’re working to create real social impact. Changing something as endemic as food systems isn’t easy. There are no cheat sheets, rule books or how-to guides.

If you have the right expertise, ambition flourishes. We’ve built a team of Mzansi Pioneers, hungry to pioneer the future of food. A fundamental key to success is always taste and if you make a product that tastes, cooks and smells delicious, you’ve won half the battle. We’re proud to have Absie Pantshwa as our head of taste. Absie is a restaurateur, entrepreneur and the daughter of a cattle farmer with a lifelong passion for creating and serving meat dishes of the highest standard. A fun fact about Absie is that in 2022 she tried a veggie burger for the first–a true meat eater at heart! We also work with Mane, a global leader in the flavour and fragrance industry, along with seasoning specialists Deli Spices. Both are experts in creating meat products with flavour and distinction, which is why we’ve received glowing feedback in our tastings over the last few months. At our burger unveiling in April, we filled guests with smiles and ‘mmmm’ reactions as our beef patties cooked in the pan. Carte Blanche co-host Masa Kekana had similar feedback during our segment earlier this year when she tasted our burger. “It was in every way indistinguishable from regular meat, the seasoning, the texture, the softness.”

Our burgers look, cook and taste like real meat because that’s what they are — meat made in the best way possible. If reading this made you hungry, don’t worry because soon you’ll get to try our burgers for yourself!
